New for 2024, our Family Support Grant provides families impacted by Dravet Syndrome and other severe genetic epilepsies with financial support for medical or learning needs up to the value of €1000 per family. Applications are open to all families who are current members of Dravet Syndrome Ireland.
Parents or legal guardians can apply for the grant using the simple application form for reimbursement of expenses related to their child’s additional needs incurred in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Receipts for the specified expenses must be included with the application form along with a letter of recommendation from your consultant neurologist.
Qualifying expenses include but are not limited to epilepsy or video monitors, private therapies by registered health professionals, counselling services, adapted sports equipment such as bicycle or tricycle, activities such as horse riding, 1:1 swim lessons, assistive technology including tablet or iPad devices for communication or educational use, nursing hours or private respite.
Qualifying expenses may exceed the grant maximum of €1000. However, if approved, the amount granted will remain at €1000 as per maximum amount per family for this scheme. Families can apply more than once provided the combined total of all applications does not exceed €1,000.
